Maureen Neeley, M.L.I.S.
Librarian & House Historian
Maureen Neeley is a local reference librarian and owner of “HouStories.” Through this history consulting business, Maureen has researched over 80 properties – residential, commercial and multifamily - in Long Beach. She also writes freelance for various publications about neighborhood histories, local lore and architecture. 

She is a long-time board member of Long Beach Heritage, and the Belmont Heights Community Association, past recipient of the Preservationist of the Year award, and serves on the Advisory Board for the Historical Society. 

Born and raised in San Francisco, Maureen is a fourth generation Californian. After receiving her B.A. in History from Gonzaga University, she went on to earn her Masters in Library and Information Studies from U.C. Berkeley. She has served on many boards throughout California, including the McHenry Museum, Modesto, Stanislaus Connections Editorial Board, and the Monterey Historic Society.

Workshops on how to research the history of a home are available for neighborhood groups and service clubs.
