Complete House History - Also ideal for the Homeowner Seeking Landmark Status A complete House History provides a narrative of your home, packaged in either a custom three-ring binder, or formatted as an application to the City of Long Beach's Office of Historic Preservation for Landmark Status.
This report includes a contextual assessment of your house in relation to the history of the city of Long Beach and the surrounding neighborhood at the time the house was built. It then delves into the lives and careers of the original builder and/or architect, the original and subsequent owners. Physical changes to the tract, lot and house itself are reviewed. Where possible, early or published photos of the house are retrieved. Included in this HouStory are copies of historic and contemporary photographs (people and places), newspaper clippings, obituaries, maps, grant deeds, building permits and tax assessor records.
If you are applying for the Mills Act (property tax reduction), your home must be a designated Long Beach Historic Landmark or within the boundaries of a Historic District. Let HouStories help you with that process. Fixed price for either the full House History binder or the Historic Landmark Application will be provided at the start of the project, but typically the cost to research a single family home is $1,250.
